A contemporary extension on the Black Isle

A contemporary extension to a three bedroom house on the Black Isle.

The occupants of the house had outgrown the small box like rooms in this traditional built former ‘Board of Agriculture’ house. The building had been extended on a number of occasions with flat roof additions to increase the accommodation, but paid no reference to the panoramic views from east to west facing Ben Wyvis.

Our brief was to modernise the space available, creating open plan living with as much light as possible and increasing the size of the bedrooms for a family growing up. As a result of the previous extensions which had confused the original form of the building our addition takes its own distinct form, enhancing the original volumes which will also be renovated.

The project is due on site in the summer of 2009.

Project duration: 6 months

Construction cost: TBC
