The Glebe Ullapool
Ullapool based company Invisible Heating Systems Ltd. identified a sloping walled garden site in the heart of the village centre as an ideal location to construct affordable housing units for employees of their growing company.
Working in conjunction with the Dutch contractors Meijers Staalbouw the designs were developed as lean steel framed buildings with a sealed insulation envelope and clad variously with steel and timber. The south facing aspect was utilised for views and solar gain with an internal air distribution system.
Individual heat pumps and a solar bank road running through the site add to the developments green credentials and minimise the overall carbon footprint.
